Monthly maps of crime in Thornton and elsewhere in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, plus information about Neighbourhood Policing.

The Home Office produces maps each month, see above and below, showing the broad location and type of individual crimes, for England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, two months in arrears. Some crimes are not shown, an example being where there is only one house in a particular street, or crimes, such as fraud, speeding, or driving over the prescribed limit of alcohol or drugs, which are not connected to a locality.
There are 2 ways of accessing the maps, either by going to the Police.uk website, or going to the Bradford West Neighbourhood Policing website.
- go to https://www.police.uk/ , you will come to a screen looking like the illustration, and in the box “Find your local area” on your device, enter your postcode, then enter.

An example is shown in the next illustration: BD3 3EL is Kipping Lane, when entered in the “Find Your Local Area” box, the road is shown.

Choose that and the box changes to the road name, and then the screen changes to an illustration of Bradford West Police Division, with total numbers of crimes at the main locations, as shown in the screen-print.

- Click / press on Crime Map on your device, and you come to the Crime maps screen.
The other way is click or press on the Bradford West Neighbourhood Policing page. This takes you to a page which includes local policing priorities for our area, and there are various options on the right hand side. Choose Crime Mapping.

The information stating “Click on the hotspot area to view more details”, only stays on the screen a few seconds. Then you get a map showing what are called hotspot areas. Keep on clicking / pressing on them to show more details. You may need to move the map to where you are interested.
